Master Bath Renovation: Mother/Daughter Edition

What's better than one renovation? TWO!

That's right, we have a special post today because we are featuring two bathroom renovations, with before-and-after photos! One bathroom is in California and the other was in Arizona!

My master bathroom was completed around September 2018, and my daughter's master bathroom was completed just a few weeks ago!

CALIFORNIA

We always wanted to do something about our master bathroom, so we finally made the choice to just do it! The room was a little outdated (we hadn't updated it much since we bought the home), and we were feeling ready for a reno!

The renovation process took a few months, but it was so worth it! We used Stonecrest Custom Homes Inc. We replaced the vanity, mirrors, lighting, bathtub, shower....everything!

Here are some photos of my BEFORE and AFTER:

This bathroom is one of my favorite rooms now! The marble floor feels so smooth every time we walk on it, and I love how light the space is. I'm still looking for a few extra accessories (bathtub caddy, jars, towels, etc.) but we love it!

ARIZONA

Jenna (my daughter) moved to Arizona with her husband last year, and they bought their first home! They went right to work, flipping their master bedroom and bathroom.

They're young and handy, so they decided to DIY their bathroom! They replaced the mirrors, lighting fixtures, faucets, and towel bars. My daughter also painted the vanity on her own and added hardware!

I think the whole thing looks so great! It's amazing what some paint and quick changes can do.

Here are some photos of her BEFORE and AFTER:

Deciding between mirrors! The gold round
mirror was more popular, but the square mirror
fit the space and the lighting much better. Sometimes
you have to pick the opposite choice!

The difference is amazing!! Can you believe it's the same bathroom? She took off the cabinets, cleaned and sanded them, and applied 3-4 coats of a Paint-N-Primer in one in semi-gloss!
Paint color: Boudoir by Behr

Thanks for checking out our rooms! It was fun to see the transformations! Now we brush our teeth a little bit longer so we have an excuse to stay in that room longer!

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry!

If you're coming from Gratefully Vintage, welcome! We always come away filled with great inspiration when we visit Kellie's beautiful home! Love what she has done for the holidays!

There are 21 days until Christmas! 3 weeks people!

And if you love the holiday season like we do, you probably look forward to the lights, the Hallmark movies, and the FOOD! There's usually always some great food involved this time of year.

It's nice to make things extra special around this time of year, and creating a beautiful table is one of the ways to add something extra to our homes for the people we love.

Instead of a separate dining room, we removed our dining room table a couple of years ago because we rarely used that space—the "dining room" is now the piano and gathering room! We use our kitchen/family room area as our dining room which works great for us.

Using fresh garland is a great way to dress a table for any holiday occasion. No need to add anything to it as it is already so beautiful as is! Love how this fresh cedar garland just pops on this off-white crocheted table runner from Home Goods. Garland can be purchased at a local nursery.

Adding ornaments is great too! I already had these gold Christmas tree plates on my shelves! No need to buy new!

Rae Dunn Merry Christmas plates found at Home Goods paired with these gold chargers from Tuesday Morning.

I already had this pinecone garland from www.lovefeastshop.com so I thought I would try it out with this cedar garland and I really loved the look! Shop your own home first, it saves money and time.

Added these gold stars to the table for some color and fun! I love stars at Christmastime!

I cut some fresh rosemary to add with the napkins for some color and placed them inside the glasses at each place setting.
I love how the table turned out and I know my guests would love it!
Now I just need to figure out a menu!

TIPS:
1. Use what you have around your home first before you go out and buy new.
2. Use elements from outside if possible. Cut clippings from trees for greenery or flower garden instead of buying flowers from the store.
3. Keep table centerpieces lower in height. You don't want them to be a distraction.
4. Table centerpieces should be simple and beautiful.
5. Add name cards to place settings.

Christmas tour, holiday tips, decorating,

Welcome to our Christmas home tour! If you have just come from Sara Sofia Productions, we hope you are enjoying the tour so far! We have decorated some favorite spots in our homes and want to show you around today!

This is Sue's entryway with a King of Christmas 9-foot flocked tree in the corner and next to it is this beautiful lace teepee adorned with Christmas pillows and gifts! Wouldn't the teepee be a great place to keep the gifts this year? Teepee is from @tindylandus and can be found on Amazon.

The Merry Christmas Garland is from krumpetshome.com and it's so cute!!!

This is what you will see on the other side of Sue's entryway...more trees on her chalk-painted buffet console. This console was an estate sale find a few years back!
The buckets were also found at estate and yard sales.
We pick them up whenever we see them for next to nothing......we love to bargain shop around here.

Another wonderful piece we love to style is Sue's gold bar cart from Target for any occasion but especially for Christmas! Here we have it styled it with this amazing Polish Pottery from Tuesday Morning!  It's really beautiful and we love this pattern for Christmas!  So FUN! Anyone for some Hot Cocoa and marshmallows?

Joy to the World is from Lara @peoniesandtwine

We love all things vintage and here are just a few of those things! Vintage ornaments, vintage celluloid (the frosty the snowman) and milkglass!

THIS HOUSE BELIEVES by Allison @poppypressbookstacks

She has many selections to choose from including personalized as well. We love "This House Believes"
How cute is this for the holidays and even all year round! They would make the perfect gifts too!

Loving how Sue's mantel turned out as well, thanks to Brooke @brooke_startathome

We sent a message to Brooke with a pic of Sue's empty mantel and she had some great ideas! This mantel has always been a challenge to style in Sue's family room but we really LOVE how it turned out with this MERRY & BRIGHT cutout and these fun snowflakes from Brooke!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

More Shiny Brite ornaments styled on this ottoman in Sue's family room!

Here is another view of Sue's family room with bottle brush trees, Shiny Brites, and fun Christmas pillows! Still debating whether to decorate the tree in the corner!

Do you bring Christmas into your bedroom? This is Sue's master bedroom and she just added touches of Christmas with these Naughty and Nice pillows from World Market and this DIY Believe banner. The bottle brush wreath was an antique find for $10 and we just added garland over the headboard from Target.

Teri's beautiful entryway!

JOY TO THE WORLD sign by
krumpetshome.com

This is Teri's gorgeous entryway and we are bringing in some color here with this beautiful sign! We also like using bottle brush trees anywhere we can at Christmastime. We collect them too! They come in wonderful bright colors such as this bright green that you see here! These bottle brush trees seen here on Teri's console were found at the Target dollar spot for $1 each. Could not pass that deal up!

Stay tuned for more of our Christmas decor and more of Teri's home...we are just getting started on her holiday decor!

*When decorating for Christmas (or any holiday), first use things you already have and then if needed, add to it to freshen things up.

*Try to discard or donate items that are no longer needed. This will free up space and it will feel so good to purge items you no longer need!

*Remember that decorating does not have to be expensive. There are so many things you can do with things you already have around your own home.

*Recycle and reuse if you can.

*Check out local thrift shops, and estate sales. Do not be afraid to go to a yard sale! There might be something there just for you!

Hope you enjoyed our Christmas Tour! Please leave us a comment and tell us what you loved!

Jumpstart on Christmas with Tuesday Morning

CHRISTMAS is right around the corner! Are you already getting into the holiday spirit?

This year, Christmas falls on a TUESDAY MORNING! Which is no coincidence, because we've partnered with Tuesday Morning to bring you their seasonal collection of holiday items!

I know what you're thinking . . . it's too early! Halloween isn't here yet! But what we've learned in our many, many years of steals, deals, and decorating is that you can never be too prepared or too early for Christmas! Especially when the hot items sell out!

And let me tell you, these items are beautiful, affordable, and high-quality. They're so fun! These are not your typical holiday ornaments and decor.

What we loved about this collection was that you won't see them in everybody's homes because they're one-of-a-kind.

That's our favorite kind of decor—not mass produced! Tuesday Morning's collection was handmade in Germany and Poland.

Tuesday Morning has new deals on Christmas decor EVERY DAY. And these European items are high quality, but low cost. That's what we like to hear because we love shopping great deals.

These are some pieces we picked up on our visit there last week. We brought them home, pulled out the tree, and cranked up the Michael Buble because holiday season is here!

Polish Pottery Ornaments
What's Christmas without ornaments? Sue collects vintage ornaments, so she was excited to add something new to her collection!

At Tuesday Morning, there are so many options to choose from. Whatever your decorating style is, you can find something you'll like.

Keep it fresh with your ornaments and use them in unexpected ways!

A look at some of the ornament collection!

Beautifully handcrafted. We love the tiny tree details!

These can be found for $7.99–8.99! (compare at 12.99 and up)

Steinbach Nutcrackers & Ornaments

We used our vintage scale to style these items!
The Nutcracker totally completes the look!
How cute is this Nutcracker? We had such a hard time choosing just one!

There were so many cute styles to choose from and we know that each year we will add a new one to our collection, so this will be something to look forward to each Christmas!

One thing that we loved when we were checking out was that these Steinbach Nutcrackers come with a special box for easy storage when Christmas is over. It's a way to keep it nice and safe until we want to use it again.

These nutcrackers can be used in many ways, like a great table centerpiece or as Christmas decor around your home.  It's a wonderful, timeless, classic Christmas piece that we think you will love.

They also have adorable Chubby Nutcrackers for $59.99 (compare at $129

Individually packaged items!

These are some more adorable mini ornaments! The Steinbach ornaments were $9.99 and the Ulbricht ornaments were $12.99! (compare at $19.99)

Polish Pottery Serveware
Check out these beautiful pieces for your kitchen! We picked up some bowls, mugs, and trays for our hot cocoa bar cart set up! These Polish pieces were handmade and they bring so much holiday style into the home.

Styling the bar cart is one of our favorite things to do, and these new pieces made it so easy and fun. We played around with marshmallows, cookies, bottle-brush trees we had, and the new mugs, bowls, and trays really made our bar cart special! How cute are these little reindeer on the bowls? Love that detail for the holidays.

Would you eat off this bar cart? We would!

The bowls were $7.99, the cups were $8.99, and the tray we used on the bar cart was $24.99! (compare at $60-160) We couldn't believe the deals we found. This cute, Scandinavian-like style is such a hit—all we need is some pumpkin pie and some hot chocolate and we are in business!

We could style and decorate with these items all day. Check out more of our Christmas styling below to get ideas for your own home! And head over to your nearest Tuesday Morning store for unique and beautiful items!
