Wool + Vine

Fall is in the air, and we are getting our homes ready for all things pumpkin and spice! Hoping the weather in SoCal cooperates soon—it would be nice to be able to pull out those sweaters!

How about a good Mantel Refresh? We all love to decorate our homes with the new season that is rolling in. That is the fun part of home decor. With every new season comes new decor and a new fresh look for our homes.

Getting those bins out and sorting through what we have and deciding what we will use from last year and what we may want to add new this year is always a fun task!

We are going to show you a mantel refresh, only using things that we have around our home. We will use elements from the outside and things we have in our decor stash.

We DO NOT want to buy any new decor for this mantel refresh. We could go to one of our favorite stores and go crazy and get all new decor! BUT, we don't have to do it this time because we already have what we need from the outdoors and seriously, we have so much in our stash, it would be a crime not to use what we have.

So we are doing this refresh with NO MONEY! That's right—not spending a dime.

We have said it many times before and we will say it again, SHOP YOUR OWN HOME FIRST. Look around and see what you can use to make your mantel look like a fresh new space for Fall.

We used a collection of brass candlesticks and pulled a couple of white pumpkins from our fall bin and then added some tree branches from the outdoors to the top of the mantel and that pretty much did the trick.

We kept it simple and clean. The huge clock was already in place. Adding elements from the outdoors is a great option. Tree branches, garden flowers, or whatever you can find is perfect. It's your home, so add things that you love.

Here are the quick tips for your own Mantel Refresh:

1. Take everything off your mantel or shelves
2.  Get out your Fall bins/decor
3.  Shop your home for items you may use for the mantel or shelves
4.  Go outside and see what you can use for the space (take cutting shears)
5.  Start styling!
6.  Have FUN!

Show us what your mantel looks like after you have shopped your home! we would love to see what you have created.
Leave us a comment and tell us what you love most about Fall!

Baby Nursery Room Reveal!

I've been working on something fun for a few months now, and we can finally reveal it! My oldest daughter is pregnant with her first baby due in November!!

I'm a grandma to two beautiful girls from my son and daughter-in-law, so when I found out my daughter was pregnant after she had been trying for a while I was SO HAPPY.

And of course I immediately dreamt up some plans for the baby's room. Here's our "vision board" my daughter and I put together before the room began!

I partnered with some AMAZING businesses and brands to pull this room together, working with my daughter's vision, of course. She and her husband don't know the baby's gender yet (we find out July 5th that's the baby reveal, although she could find out sooner, but they want to wait for family to be there so they had the doctor put the gender in a sealed envelope) so we wanted to create a gender-neutral room with modern/boho vibes. I love a great gender neutral room anyway, so this was fun!

I LOVE this corner of the room! This is what you'll first see when coming into the room. And my eyes automatically go down to that gorgeous rug! It really ties the whole room together.
This rug is from Home Dynamix—they have so many options depending on your style preferences!

We chose this 8x10 from their New Weave collection
And it did not disappoint!

Home Dynamix has dozens of collections to browse through. You could scroll for hours and find so many beautiful rugs!

The quality is what I love the best—it has a great pile, cleans easily, and really feels like a quality rug.

This rug has beautiful creams, grays, blues, and pinks to neutralize the room.

You can see a part of the Opalhouse Llama basket we found at Target–it's a water hyacinth weave and it was only $25!

The other round basket was one my daughter already had, but I believe she bought it at Target a few years back. And of course we filled it with some stuffed animals—elephants are my daughter's favorite!

My daughter got the crib she wanted from Wayfair and the white dresser from IKEA to go opposite each other in the room. Instead of the regular black knobs on the dresser, she bought some beautiful gold pulls from Amazon! They were less than $20 for 12 handles!

My son-in-law is our handyman around here (check out my living room shiplap, bedroom shiplap, bedroom shelves, and farmhouse door projects he completed)

So when we say we want him to build something, he can do it! Seriously . . . show him a photo and say "Please?" and he's off to work! My daughter loved the natural bookshelves she saw on some Pinterest photos, so he built them for her to fit the wall! IKEA sells a similar bookshelf, but it's 27" long and these were about 38"!

We filled the bookshelves with some vintage books, some new ones, and everything in between. I love how they turned out! My daughter hung a cute onesie from LovedBaby from the bottom bookshelf using a hanger she bought from the $1 section at Target.

Then, we were able to partner with HelloBirdieBirdie. My daughter has been a huge fan of her baby mobiles, and we were able to get the Woodland Mobile for her baby's room! Her Etsy shop is so beautiful, and there are so many choices to choose from when it comes to baby mobiles.

Seriously, how adorable are these? The woodland mobile has a deer, polar bear, rabbit, squirrel, and dog! The packaging is adorable and came with a handwritten note.
My daughter was able to hang it herself using a 3M hook on the ceiling and set it at the height she wanted!

I can't get over how beautiful the little details are! They really bring the whole room together. And one piece that brings the room together is our incredible canvas print and wood hangers from Hanger Frames.

My daughter had found a digital print on Etsy she really wanted for the baby's room, and Hanger Frames was able to replicate it and print it on their high-quality canvas paper! We received the 20x30 print with their natural wood frame

The packaging is so beautiful and well done! The instructions were easy to follow and it even came with 3 different string types so you could choose which one to hang your frame with! Their options are great too because you can just buy wood frames if that's what you're looking for, or you can get photos/prints!

The piece really works beautifully over the crib as a focal point! The words are lyrics from a song by Andrew McMahon called "Cecilia and the Satellite."

Across from the crib, my daughter has her rocker from American Furniture Warehouse, the IKEA Hemnes Dresser with new hardware they added, a vintage accordion hanger I found for her at a garage sale, and a great mirror she got on sale at At Home for $20!

She is adding a few more prints/hangings to the room and hoping to find some great Etsy creators to bring some more boho/artsy vibes to the room, but so far the nursery is really coming along!

All the major decor pieces are in place, so now we just wait for baby to arrive!

Sweet Dreams with Emma Mattress

Many people don't know this, but I have lived with back pain practically my whole life and it's not fun. In fact, it is downright painful and can be very debilitating. I had to have back surgery about 13 years ago to remove a bulging disk. I had the surgery because I had no choice at the time—it affected me so much that I found myself not being able to walk because of this disk. Sometimes when I am lying down I have back pain. It's just what I deal with. I know there are so many people that deal with back pain and the number is rising every day.

Sleep is so important, as we all know. Your bed is where you spend so much of your life and so when I'm looking for a bed, it needs to be comfortable and not hurt my back. If you are finding yourself with back pain when waking up, maybe it's time for a new mattress.

Did you know that Americans buy a mattress every 7 years? Are you ready for a new mattress?

When the opportunity to partner with Emma Mattress came up, I jumped a the chance to work with them and try out their bed-in-a-box that arrives at your door! First of all, the mattress arrived in a quick and timely manner and it was indeed in a box!

We opened the box and took the mattress out and set it up in just a few minutes. This mattress does not take all day to get its shape, in fact, it only took seconds for it to inflate to its intended size! That was a surprise to me as I had only known beds-in-boxes to take all day to inflate to the original size. See the set-up video below to check out how easy it was.

This memory foam mattress is comfortable and does not hurt my back, which is the most important thing to me! In fact, it keeps my back aligned whether I am on my stomach, side or back.

Another feature that I love about the Emma Mattress is the climate-regulating top cover which keeps it cool and keeps the heat out! No one wants to be hot when they are sleeping!!

Once your mattress arrives, you will have 100 nights to decide whether it's the perfect mattress for you. If you like it, simply keep it. If you don't find it everything you want it to be, return it! They will pick it up and it's hassle free.

When we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping, we want it to be the most comfortable place to be. Sleep is so important to our bodies. I looked up a few fun facts about sleep and thought they were very interesting!

Surprising facts about sleep...........

  • 60% of American adults experience sleep problems at some time in their lives
  • The average person falls asleep in 7 minutes
  • Humans are the only mammals that delay sleep
  • Women sleep more than men
  • Parents of newborn babies lose 6 months of sleep in the first 2 years of their child's life
  • Only 21% of Americans get the recommended 7 to 8 hours sleep each night
  • Exercising regularly makes it easier to fall asleep and contributes to sounder sleep

Sink Dreams Come True!

Hi, I'm Sue and I live in Southern California in a town called Temecula. It's about an hour north of San Diego. Many people do not know where Temecula is but it is nicknamed Wine Country and it's a very beautiful place to live. My family has lived here for 14 years. Our home is a place that I love to be—in fact, I prefer to stay home many nights instead of going out! Are you like that? A homebody too?

There is no place like being home and I love my home. Our home is a work in progress I like to say I am always working on something, whether it's a DIY project or just rearranging my current view. I like change. We just recently did a kitchen renovation and I am loving everything!

When we decided to remodel our kitchen, I never thought the kitchen sink was that big of a deal . . . until I got one that changed my life! I had always wanted an apron front/farmhouse sink that I had seen in so many pictures on Pinterest. I wanted to be able to have a sink that I could fill with flowers so that I could take my own beautiful pictures! You know those pictures!? They get you every time!

There were pictures of copper sinks on Instagram and I loved the pictures that people were posting so I found out many people had used Sinkology. We started to look around and research more about Sinkology. They had wonderful reviews and that really meant a lot to us as we were learning about where to get our sink—reviews are everything. I had seen many beautiful sinks on their site, but the copper farmhouse sink caught my eye right away. The hammered texture, the brilliant sheen, the copper hues. GORGEOUS. Sinkology really did it right with their copper line....they are AMAZING!

Before and After pics of my sink

My Review
There are so many amazing parts of this sink I want to cover! I'll be reviewing the sink's function, durability, upkeep, and design in this blogpost.

First off, my sink is the LANGE FARMHOUSE APRON COPPER SINK and it was an all-in-one-kit consisting of the sink, the Pfister Faucet, disposal flange, and the CareIQ Kit for cleaning. These kits and sinks can be purchased from Home Depot and they are affordable without compromising quality and that is important.

When I received this sink in the mail, I could not wait to pull it out and lay my eyes on it! It did not disappoint! I honestly could not keep my eyes off of it.  I had seen them online for so long that finally having it in my home was like a dream come true! The copper was so bright and beautiful it exceeded my expectations!

When the workers installed this sink, I was a little worried about how this sink was going to function and would it work in our kitchen I mean, I knew it was beautiful but was it functional? I was worried about upkeep and would my sink keep the shine? All of these things went through my head.

It has been about 5 weeks since the installation and this sink works wonderfully! It is a quality product. We were able to hook up our garbage disposal with no problems. It's has plenty of room to do what needs to be done like dirty dishes. This is the first time I have had one huge sink and not a double sink and I LOVE it!  It's like going from a queen bed to a king bed! Such a drastic difference for me having the one sink!

So not only does it make my kitchen beautiful, it also functions quite well for our family. I still can't believe it's mine. It's a joy to do the dishes! I am not even joking either!

Check out the copper hammered finish on this beautiful sink! I love the color and the uniqueness of this sink. It's not like any other sink out there!

I know I have only had this sink for several weeks now, but I plan on it lasting a lifetime! In fact, Sinkology backs their products with a lifetime warranty which is comforting.

We have treated this sink special because it's unique and when you have something that is special, you want to treat it differently so that it will last forever.

The faucet complements the sink so beautifully. Pfister Faucets makes incredible products! I have been so happy with the functionality, quality and the beauty of this faucet! Works perfectly in our space.

Taking care of my sink is important to me because I want to keep this sink nice and bright, although I do know that the finish of a copper sink will naturally age and change with time and use and I think that's the beauty of the copper.

It's not hard to keep this sink clean—in fact, it's been easier than I anticipated! Sinkology has a product that shines this sink up very nicely and it's called Sinkology CareIQ which is a cleaning and care solution specifically created for copper surfaces. It's easy to apply and only takes a few minutes and it shines the sink up nicely. I also clean the sink out a couple of times a week which is no different from my other sink. A mild dish soap and some warm water and a little light scrubbing is all it takes to clean it. We do dry it out with a microfiber cloth after each use because we don't want any water spots on it. It only takes a few seconds to do this and it has kept the sink in beautiful condition.

You can also get a sink rack/grid so that dishes can sit on the rack instead of the sink to prevent any permanent marks to the sink. Unlike other sinks, copper sinks develop their own natural protection through its ever-changing surface or patina. Drying the sink out, using the sink rack, and cleaning it regularly with a mild soap will help to preserve the sink's shine and natural beauty.

Since we have had this gorgeous sink, we have not left any dishes in it because it's too beautiful! We had a stainless steel sink before this copper beauty, and the dishes just sat there in the sink waiting for someone to come along and put them into the dishwasher. There is something about the hammered copper that makes you want to leave nothing in it like those dirty dishes! My sink has stayed cleaner and tidier and is always ready to welcome bunches of flowers!
No matter what style of home you may have whether it be a farmhouse, modern, traditional, boho, etc., why not try a sink that is unique? I always thought I would go with a white traditional farmhouse sink. That was the safe choice. Before I pulled the trigger on this sink, I did a poll on Instagram asking which sink I should choose for my kitchen renovation, a white farmhouse style or this hammered copper apron front sink. The white farmhouse sink won by just a little and the comments that people were making were leaning towards the white sink. I was a little worried with the copper sink because I have off-white cabinets and I was replacing my orange granite with a white quartz. It was a little more risky to go with the copper for that reason.

We eventually decided to go with the copper and it has really made a statement in my kitchen. The safe choice isn't always the best choice is my point to all of this. A white farmhouse sink would have looked great in my kitchen but the hammered copper apron front sink looks AMAZING!

After reviewing the categories and enjoying this sink for over a month, I give this 5 out of 5 stars, and not just because it's beautiful.

I have my dream sink and my flowers to go in it! This sink is a WINNER! My kitchen is completed and I am so happy!

Is a copper sink right for your kitchen? I would highly recommend it! It really is a timeless piece that stands out in any kitchen and is really the star of the show in my opinion. A real showstopper! You can't go wrong with a copper sink.

Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave me a comment! I would love to know what you think.

Step Into Spring!

If you have just come from @worthingcourtblog WELCOME!  Suzy's home is gorgeous! We really love how she has incorporated spring into her beautiful home! So many beautiful ideas!

Teri and I live in Southern California and it's been raining A LOT! You know what that means? When it rains.....everything gets so green and flowers are blooming everywhere! We live right where all of the poppies are blooming they call it the "super bloom." With this poppy super bloom, traffic is a nightmare because everyone wants to come and get pictures with the poppies. It really is an amazing site to see! Well worth the drive and traffic.

How can this picture be real you say? Well, it is real! My friend took this picture right outside of Bakersfield, CA a week or so ago. LOVE these beautiful colors! Spring has sprung here in Southern California not only on the outside, but in OUR HOMES TOO! So how can you bring a little spring into your homes?  We have some easy things you can do.

When you are adding those spring touches to your home, try to keep surfaces clear of clutter such as countertops and tables, so that the flowers and other spring accessories are not fighting with other things out of place......get rid of the clutter! Clearing surfaces of unwanted items is more pleasing to the eye. You will feel like you have done a little spring cleaning!

Shop around your own home before going out and buying new things. It saves money and you aren't adding more stuff to your stash. We all have to store things away when the season ends.  Finding space is always a challenge, so make sure if you do buy things for the season ask yourself, do I love this and is this something that I can use next year as well? This will help when you are out shopping to avoid spontaneous purchases.

Have fun with your spring decor!  Don't be afraid to add a little color in your home. You can do this by incorporating fun pillows, a colorful candle that also smells good and faux or real flowers bring that pop of color for spring! If you buy pillows, make sure you can take the covers off to store when the season ends.

Set your table with a fun and fresh tablescape! My mother-in-law always has a set table when we visit and it really brings beauty into her home. It's simple to do and FUN! Start with some place mats and add things you LOVE to the table like different colored dishes, glasses, elements from outside like leaves or branches, and of course an amazing centerpiece! You may want to try different ideas with the napkins such as making roses out of them, (see our 4th pic below of a rose that was made from a green napkin). Another idea is to tie the napkins with colored ribbons or lace. DIY something amazing for a table centerpiece. Pinterest has some incredible ideas for DIY. Get out of your comfort zone and CREATE! We have created some simple and fun spring tables below.

Our favorite place to get flowers is Petaldriven.com They are on Instagram @petaldriven They have thousands of flowers to choose from and ship very fast.  They also have flower kits you can purchase if you are having a special event. In the kits you will find everything you need to make centerpieces for your special occasion! Petaldriven flowers are beautiful and they last forever! Check them out because we know you will LOVE them like we do!

Be sure to check out Sarah @sarahsofiaproductions and
